After reading a post about Christian anti-Masons on the new Masonic blog Horseshoes and Handgrenades, I was knocking about the Internet when I found a very interesting essay from 2001 called "Venus, the Devil, Jack Chick and Freemasonry."The essay explains how Venus, the brightest "star" in the sky, came to be associated with the Christian Satan, and then looks at how anti-Mason Leo Taxil's hoax and made-up quotation by Albert Pike has led to today's rabid anti-Masonic positions by people and organizations such as John Ankerberg, FreemasonryWatch.org, and Jack Chick, who continue to repeat the lies Taxil himself reputed in 1897.
