The original hippie generation is now in charge of things. Not that any of the current crop of candidates were hippies (Hillary's husband didn't inhale, after all), but they do like to rock.Some of the Democratic candidates for president have chosen their campaign theme songs. A few have selected two songs, one for their entrance and one for their exit. Other than Ohio congressman Dennis Kucinich, who chose an American traditional standard, the candidates are all posturing as oh-so-cool baby boomers. Here's what was played as each of the candidates entered and left the stage at Friday's Democratic National Committee meeting in Washington, D.C.
- John Edwards: "This Is Our Country" by John Mellencamp
- Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut: "Get Ready (Cause Here I Come)" by the Temptations and "Reach Out," also by the Temptations
- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York: "Right Here, Right Now," by Jesus Jones and "Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" by Bachman-Turner Overdrive
- Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio: "America the Beautiful"
- Wesley Clark, who hasn't indicated whether he will run, entered to Johnny Cash's "I Won't Back Down," a cover of the Tom Petty classic
George W. Bush's anthem for the last four years must have been Neil Young's "Living With War."
